I don't want to discourage anyone from going to either place. I loved Blue Angel. I think it's great that Eva didn't lay off her staff and I will definitely stay there again.

I live in a place where we live and die by tourism. I understand why Scuba Club laid off their staff in order to try and weather the storm until people started coming back. I don't have to like it, but I understand it. The staff will suffer more if we don't go back. I'm looking forward to staying there and see what it is like.

I have never been to Coz and would like to see the town ( I know not everything is open) but it sounds like I can do that in an afternoon with no problem.

As for the 4 dives, I am traveling solo, so really just want to dive as much as I can. But if it is not possible, no big deal.

Doesn't Scuba Club have a any of their deals going on? Usually they have something like a 542 which is five nights, four days of two-tank dives, and two meals (breakfast and lunch). Then, for your other two dives, you can shore dive for free from the resort but you have to check out your tanks before 5:00pm and bring your own padlock for the lockers. It might be difficult right now to find enough divers for any afternoon dive trips. For another $20/night they will include dinner (your choice of three options) but you can eat for about half of that in town (or even less if you go with tacos or burritos), which is about a 15 minute walk. I thought their breakfast and lunch was very good with a pretty good selection. They even had a very decent hamburger. On my first trip there I added two nights and the difference was reasonable. The problem is that price is double-occupancy but you sound like you might have a potential room-mate. I have never actually done the shore dives from Scuba Club but hear it is decent. If you want to wander down the road a bit you can rent a tank and weights at Marine World (just before the elevated stairs/walkway going to Casa del Mar Hotel. There you can visit the coral restoration gardens, and if you head North you will see some artistic artificial reefs and busts of famous oceanographers. Most of it is about 20-25 feet so your tank lasts a long time. You can also stay at Casa del Mar and dive with them, and walk across the street to shore dive. I only ate at their restaurant once but it was good. Just North of town is the Coral Princess and they have a good dive op (Pepe's) and you can rent a tank for shore dives for $15. I really like the shore diving along the water's edge there and it's so shallow that a tank can last two hours! I've always gotten an amazing deal at the CP so I don't know how much a room costs, The main problem is that the restaurant is pretty awful and may not even be open and it's about a 80 peso taxi ride to town, each way. We've walked it a couple of times but we are old and senile and don't know any better

We are booked for the Coral Princess for November but we can't find a direct flight to CZM so we have doubts about getting on two planes full of people. We just cancelled Puerto Vallarta mainly because the virus situation is bad where we live and about three times as bad there. I suppose if we were younger we might chance it. We hardly go anywhere here and there wouldn't be much point in going to PV and staying inside our apartment all the time.

I should probably mention that if you are going alone, many of the dive ops no longer allow solo shore diving, so make sure they know you have a dive buddy.

Cautious about booking with Blue Angel, yes, in the sense that you should be reasonably committed to going and staying there instead of booking a reservation that you may or may not use. Personally, I do not find their policy of only refunding reservation fees with credit toward a later stay to be onerous or unreasonable in these difficult times, but YMMV.

I weighed the options, did my research and pulled the trigger on Blue Angel for November 2-9 using their 'Welcome Home" special (7 days lodging and meals, 5 days 2x tank AM dives)

Will likely add afternoon 2 tank trip a couple of days if the time works out, and hopefully a dusk/night dive on a few days as well.

I am OK with the deposit and refund terms, and I think that is a decision everyone has to make for themselves.

I am excited for my first trip to COZ!
