A pot of hot water.

I tried to drop the tank gently to get the boot part way on but it does not go.....I have put tank boots on before but this is my first on an aluminum tank with a flat bottom. I will try a pot of hot water......both the tank and the boot match in diameter....the "fins" on the inside of the boot are very rigid. I hope the hot water will make them a bit flexible. Thank you for the suggestions.

What is the trick to installing a tank boot.....it is so tight I am afraid to bang it on.....hoping someone has the solution. Thank you
Hello. Good thing you didn't accidentally post this in the Tech/Cave/Duh section. You would have been keel hauled.:rofl3:
The methods your trying should work fine
Cheers

dawn dish soap. Put a bit of soapy solution on the inside of the tank boot and the bottom of the tank then do what @tridacna said.

These are tanks designed to withstand thousands of pounds of pressure. Dropping them on concrete is comparable to someone to a leaf falling on your head....

If you can’t drop it in, lay the tank down horizontally and bang away with a rubber mallet until the boot slides on partially, then drop on floor as described. I’ve down hundreds - never used a lubricant of any kind.
