It was a tough read, such a stupid style of boat. First world greed at it's finest.

Carter is one of my friends at Loggerhead Marine Lifecenter. He is an absolutely amazing young man with such a positive personality. He's doing great and it's wonderful to see him back to work at LMC. I know he'll follow his dream of establishing a no wake zone in front of the Breakers. Another amazing guy is Andy, the young man who saved Carter on that horrible day. Both guys are heroes in my book.

The news articles can't agree on whether he was snorkeling or diving. His name is Carter Viss, 25, of Palm Beach, currently “critical condition yet stable.”

Excerpting from: Diver who lost arm after boat ran him over is ‘critical but stable,’ mom says
snorkeling is diving.
Time for flag laws to change. 12 inch flag is not adequate. Increase size to 24 inches and the bottom of the flag must be at least 36 inches above the water.
Bad idea. Why not make the flag requirement 36", or 72"? If you make the flag unwieldy enough then beach divers will stop using them at all. Towing a 12" flag is burden enough for a diver. Boater education is a more practical approach.

Seriously? Titania, is that you?

Taking your 1000hp boat out for a 30 minute pleasure cruise?? why?? because you are a human and you can do what you like regardless of its ethics or sustainability (First world greed).
How would you feel if I took my 1000hp car out for a burn and ran over one of your loved ones?
How is the forward vision/blindspots on that boat when planing at 53MPH?

1200 HP on a 12 meters boat?
I have to agree with this.
BTW I am a licensed boat captain and yacth master I can navigate the world. In this part of the world boating at less than 200 mtrs (600+ feet) from shore has to be done at reduced speed (minimum steerage) and perpendicularly to shore, only to approach your intended destination. Any navigation at speed has to be done further out.
Just saying .... BTW boat do not observe dive flag limitation here as well...

It could be compared to being run over by an 9 second quarter mile car while crossing the street.

Out of curiosity, is the dive flag limitation only a recommendation or is it law and it can be enforced ?
