I arrived yesterday (Saturday) on United from Houston to what has recently been an empty airport. Lo and behold there were three AA planes there with immigration and customs overflowing with people. Seems like the island may be coming back to life!

Getting stuck in overflowing Security, Customs, and Immigration lines in airports is what concerns me about traveling by air. I am not that worried about the planes themselves.

I already gave you the solution for that. Don't stand in the lines. Sit somewhere off to the side until the last person in line goes through then you go through.

That might work in theory but it may not if you have a flight to make or if another planeload comes in behind you while you are already in line. If you keep waiting until there is no one left in line you may waiting for hours; the last time I landed in Cozumel when 3 or 4 planes came in close together I was in the Immigration line for more than three hours, and that time I was trying to get through as quickly as possible.

My idea is to never be in line so the scenario "if a planeload comes in behind you" doesn't apply. If you wait til there is no line it's only going to take 2 minutes for the officer to stamp your tourist card. And by then your bags will likely already be off the carousel.

3 or 4 planes at a time in Coz is rare especially now, and it isn't sustained all day long. Yes, perhaps you could be waiting for hours. I didn't say you could get through safely AND quickly. You expressed concern about being in crowds and I pointed out a way to avoid being in crowds. I guess your concern about crowds really isn't great enough to sacrifice speed and convenience.

Good 4 Cozumel, they need it

... doesn't change anything. DSFDF and YMMV.

It completely solves your stated problem of "Getting stuck in overflowing Security, Customs, and Immigration lines in airports" but if you're going to redefine it to "never get within 20 feet of a living being" to shoot down any idea then you're on your own.

Oh, no, I'm not going to let myself get sucked into another silly pointless argument with you. I've learned my lesson, and I suspect other readers of this forum will be happy to hear it. :D

I've stated my concerns and I will leave it at that.
