You didn't ruin your suit, so don't sweat it. You don't really need the seal if you are running with dry gloves.

Here's the deal:
Gloves don't tear, they get a pin pricks - Solution: Spare gloves and super glue for a quick fix

Even with wrist seals you have to create an airway under the seal. (straws, strings, etc) So if there is a leak in the glove it's coming in anyway. But not that much water, maybe your forearm gets wet.

I've used dry gloves with out wrist seals forever, or had them tear and never fixed them. No big deal.

I tried the Si-tech glove lock dry glove yesterday for the first time, after @Zef suggesting it as the best possible solution at the moment (I had already the CQP round system on my Bare drysuit).

It wasn't that hard to put them on and i had no leaks, which made me think of removing the wrist seals so that it is easier when i put it on and take it off.
Reading your post makes me confident of removing them, but what if someone is so unlucky that the dryglove gets ripped somehow or the lock leaks big time cause of something? Then i guess the whole drysuit gets flooded and you are in a big shock, right? And then it gets really heavy for you to go up, right?
I don't know, maybe it is just my fear talking now..

There are people who do just as you are thinking and cut back their wrist seals so that they effectively do jot have one. The seal material is still necessary between the ring glued into the suit and the rigid ring that retains the seal. While those who do this find their suit easier to put on as they dont have to contend with wrist seals, as you surmise, if your glove system develops a leak, you have no barrier preventing your suit from becoming flooded.

The choice is always yours, so weigh out the benefit you hope to achieve against the risk and decide how you want to configure and dive your suit.

Love the Ultima system (once the gloves are on it) so easy to use and so far no leak, I’m still using the Antaries on my second suit with no issues at all but the Rolock 90 looks like it may be a better system over all it that it seems secure and mounting a glove to it may not take 3 days and a bottle of pain killers! Just ordered a set from Seaskin, nice price so I should have them in a few weeks.

This, from the guy who was skeptical about the Ultima DGS.

Let me know how it goes with the Rolcock 90, from the product demo videos I have watched it seems like a good system...hopefully it works well in execution.

Cheers.

You sold me on the Ultima, I’m still ok with the Antares but always with that nagging feeling that they will leak, ultima, 100% positive it won’t leak. My hands ache at the thought of mounting the glove on the ultima ring, rolock looks easy and pain free.

I have the same rings and just use pullover gloves and have never had a leak. I use the Marigold black industrial gloves and they hold up better than the Showa gloves I used previously.

You’re diving in pretty cold conditions, correct? I’d leave the seals on. They’re not that difficult to get on. Just use talc or silicone lube.

I winced when I saw the title. Glad it was just a minor issue of how to upgrade to a workable dry glove system. Lots of good suggestions here, good luck!

50/50 mix of water and conditioner in a spray bottle. Lube neck/wrist seals with it before putting on. Works really well for me.
