that is the one right after the Peanut Tunnel, yes. There are others

I am hoping to do crossunder eventually. Unfortunately I don't feel that the Peacock map gives you a good idea of the nature of the tunnels. Like Darkwater doesn't look too hard on the map, but looking at it on video, definitely a higher skill tunnel like crossunder.

Maybe Adam will make a better map after he completes his Ginnie map.

by definition it is a restriction in the sense that a pair of divers would struggle to pass through side by side *or on top of each other? can you clarify that one @kensuf ?* which is the definition we use for a restriction. In sidemount it is quite easy to skate through completely clean. In doubles, even at my size, you can get through without touching anything if your buoyancy is spot on and you are paying attention.
There are grinder restrictions in that cave, one very shortly after the Peanut Tunnel, but if it was that type of restriction, the gold line certainly wouldn't be going through it.

The peanut is a minor restriction. No gear removal necessary, but you're probably going through it single file.

I knew that, but is the definition of a minor restriction is one where you have to go through single file right? I couldn't remember if you were able to go through "stacked" if it counted, i.e. fissures, or if it was anywhere you couldn't go side by side

@Manatee Diver there is a reason these maps are vague, but also a reason a lot of these passages aren't on the map

Yeah, minor is single file, major is gear removal. I like to say "minor restriction is you stuck in the cave, major restriction is me stuck in the cave".

Also helps to know who made the map and their...cross section. There are certain "sidemount" restrictions in ginnie that can definitely be done by a skinny person in backmount 108s.

Was it you that posted the video of going into Jug with BM 85s?

My wife could likely easily dive jug in bm, the problem is it's really poor form and nobody should be attempting it or doing it. Years ago nobody could really easily dive jug bm. Over the years of lots of divers and people with bad form, certain spots have gotten bigger and are much easier to pass.

In my opinion, anyone who attempts jug in bm should be called out for it, shamed, and reprimanded by the cave police. It's extremely poor form and shows that that person has no respect for the cave or conservation.

In 2010, when I completed full cave course with Bil Phillips, a minor restriction was defined as one where divers could only pass single file, and a major restriction was where contact with the cave was unavoidable - short of not going. Gear removal was not 'a thing'.

I was taught that a major restriction was one in which you had to manipulate your body or gear in order to pass and would contact the cave regardless. Removing gear was likely but not required by definition. So similar

You can get up to and through diamond sands in BM without having any more impact than your average SM diver in Jug with proper tank selection and technique. Does that mean it should be done regularly? No. But it is possible. Some of the original exploration was done in backmount.
