Thank you for sharing the info. You're lucky to be able to dive just right now, I'm green with envy :(

Besides, it's nice to remember our predecessors. The man was far from perfect (please no trolling, there's no JYC bashing on my part) but a lot of what he did deserves admiration.

But mankind tend to forget : met a young guy in his 20s on a diving boat last year, he had no idea who JYC was...

Even yesterday when we were doing the installation, someone said, "Who's that?" By the same token, that also means that whoever taught that person - and by extension other instructors around the world - have not been talking about Cousteau and his role in shaping our sport. It would sort of be like talking about the United States with no mention of George Washington and the Founding Fathers.
 
Was the old one removed or covered over with then new one? If removed, where is it now?

Covered over. We were concerned, because it's unknown how the original was attached, that we'd split it o even crack the rock if we attemtped to remove it.
