The later part of this season has been really rough for Coz.

forecast to make landfall as a hurricane near the Honduran/Nicaraguan border on Monday.
And get meaner before arriving...

I don't guess a hurricane that far south will have much affect on Cozumel, but it looks like a norther will...

Wonder if it will halt ferry service again

Eta made a sharp right turn in the mountains of Nicaragua and sideswiped Cozumel on the way to Cuba. Hopefully (what will likely become) Iota will continue westward and head out to sea over the Pacific. The people of Nicaragua and Guatemala are going to have a similar experience as the folks in SW Louisiana did recently - getting hit a second time while still trying to recover from the first.

Decided to bug out 5 days early.
Got a flight out Monday. I hope the winds aren’t bad for takeoff.

Modern jets aren't bothered by ground winds much. Next week does look bad for diving. Save the time and money for a return trip.

Much like the ferries, it’s all about wind direction. I can take off in a ripping headwind, but my crosswind tolerances are actually pretty limited. Once we’re aloft, yeah wind doesn’t matter that much.

Runways are always constructed to be parallel to prevailing winds. If the wind shifts (reveres) which is relatively common, you just go to the other end of the runway to take off.
