Is there any info regarding a diver who died Nov 6, or 7, 2020. Apparently PADI instructor, cave certified, so not a rookie. He was diving alone in a lake in central Saskatchewan and was found Nov 7. I know it happened as I talked with his brother in law, but can’t find any information. Left behind a family with 2 young kids.

Haven't heard or seen anything about that here in Manitoba yet. If you talk with the family again extend the Manitoba dive community's condolences.

He was solo and likely diving a t-reb rebreather in sidemount configuration.

Thanks wedivebc. I know some of his extended family and none of them know anything about diving. Just trying to learn from others experiences both good and awful. Very sad.

I didn't know him other than a phone conversation about 2 weeks ago. He was trying to book decompression procedures instructor class through me and we were working on scheduling. He gave me a pretty detailed diving history/profile. He was no rookie diver for sure. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear this. As a father of young teenagers, these stories spook me.

Two things suggest we might never know more on this:

1. Enough time has passed this isn't a "hot" news story. If I'm not missing anything, it seems we don't know if he was found on the surface or submerged. I suppose we could guess "submerged" if it took 2 days to find the body but we don't know that.
2. He was diving alone, so no buddy to report what happened.

Condolences to all that knew him. It's never easy, and perhaps less so if there's no explanation to grab hold of.
