Interesting... I just compared DAN's plans between NY and GA. GA gets much more preferential treatment than NYC. I wonder why it matters which state you live in.
Each state has its own insurance laws and insurance departments that have to approve any insurance sold to its residents. New York has some of the toughest insurance laws in the US.

Toughest on whom? The insurer or the insured?

DAN is the Diver Alert Network, it's a great diving insurance: DAN | Insurance it's comparatively cheap, and they are a great cause.

I think DAN is a great company and I think every diver should have coverage, but just to be clear their website says they don’t cover Covid since it isn’t a covered accident.

With regards to Snowemans GA vs NY question , insurance is regulated at the state level. NY has notoriously tough regulations so not surprising that coverage there differs from other states. DAN probably has a more normal insurance company backing them up in some way for actuarial and risk sharing purposes—what company that is might even vary by state.

I think DAN had to at least temporarily pull out of Washington State a while back (you can find old posts on the board ). I assume they got the issue fixed by now, but not something I follow closely since I am from Texas

EDIT: DandyDon posted while I was typing. I agree with what he said. NY is tough on the companies, but this flows through to what the companies provide their customers. Higher regulation costs generally leads to higher premiums or lower benefits. More scrutiny isn’t necessarily bad—just takes time and money that has to come from somewhere.

The insurer, but that a pretty general claim. Texas had some of the worst banking and insurance laws that were rooted in the financial problems of its earliest years as a state, but some of that has been improved. Remember when branch banks and remote tellers were banned in Texas? Of course, ATMs were science fiction then.

The Guardian plan does include $20K of coverage for non-diving accidents but I don't think it covers illnesses or other non-accident medical problems. I always take good trip insurance when I leave the US.

Like many things, insurance is regulated at the state level. Each state is free to make its own insurance rules. Some states are similar, some are very different.

I seriously doubt DAN will cover a pandemic.

I have been searching around this thread but can’t read Spanish and did not see answers to my question.
My questions are what is the currant rules?
Examples
1. Curfew times?
2. Are restaurants open and to what levels?
3. Are the grocery stores stocked?
4. I saw taxis were stopPing at 5pm? Still?
5. Must a mask be warn at all times?
6. Are ferries back to sort of a normal schedule?
So on and so on?
Thank

1) 12am - 5am curfew
2) Most everything at 50-60%, restaurants and diving at 60%
3) Our grocery stores have never been low on anything - I don't understand how that happens up North
4) Taxis operate according to curfew - curfew is loosely enforced also, just nothing open
5) Mask and distancing everywhere but common sense added in there. Sitting at dinner, on your beach chair - you're fine.
6) Ferries - only one company per day is running, I think they are up to 7 crossings a day right now, check their Facebook pages for accurate schedules.
7) Bar only places aren't open - they have to serve food too which most all do anyways

I guess in thinking about it, Cozumel today is very similar to Cozumel 12 months ago. Cruise ships aren't here and the number of overnite visitors is a little lower than normal. The restrictions today really have no bearing on what you're doing, I haven't heard of anyone waiting on tables for dinner but maybe that happens.... You can't just walk up and get on a ferry, that's probably the biggest change right now. The mask wearing is really not a big deal and you almost don't notice it.
