My husband and I have booked a trip to Cozumel for March. We are currently booked at Secrets Resort for this trip. We plan to dive every day while we are there, so we are not looking for a ton of activities at the resort--mainly good food, nice beach and pool for after diving. Since we are going during Spring Break, we selected Secrets so that there would not be kids. After reading reviews of Secrets, I am having second thoughts. Husband wants an all inclusive with good food. I want a nice beach. Should we look for a different resort?

We've never stayed at Secrets but as far as I'm concerned good food and all inclusive don't go together. We stay at Hotel Cozumel AI option, great pool, nice sea side area but no sand beach. As for the food; breakfast is very good, lunch is decent and its nice to get a quick bite when we get off the dive boat. We almost always go out for supper. Hotel Cozumel is cheap enough that going out in the evening doesn't break the bank, we look for the more mom and pop type restaurants locally owned.

I have stayed at the adjacent sister property, Sunscape. Secrets has nice beach, nice pool. Staff are polite, friendly. For an AI, food is very good. Cozumel has some really good, local restaurants that are superior but I think most folks would be fine at Secrets.

Great beach at the Grand Occidental...ok food...use to be better prior pandemic, but its cheap enough we go into town for dinner a few times..nice resort, great employees, three pools...one for adults only. Free Tequila ..pier and shop on site. Extra hour of sleep if your getting picked up...close to all southern sites.

I normally stay at Sunscape next door to Secrets but I have eaten at all of the Secrets restaurants on several occasions. I think the food there is pretty good and it is better quality than Sunscape. Secrets guests also have access to the 4 restaurants, etc. at Sunscape. Beach is very nice at both resorts. Staff is great at both.

I've only stayed at Iberostar, and i've stayed there a ton... usually 2 - 3 times a year. My most recent was last month.

I can't compare the food to the other AI's... but i've been very impressed with food options there. And those that I speak with who have been to the other AI's on Cozumel say the food at Iberostar is superior. Probably some bias there i'm sure, but again, i've been very happy.

I have however seen the beach situation for all AI's between Iberostar up to Sunscape. Iberostar's beach is quite nice. Some of them are very tight.

A negative with Iberostar, is that the rooms are small and in need of an update. I usually take a suite which is basically double the room.

One other question that I thought about is if we should rent a car since Secrets is quite a distance from town or if we would be fine just staying on site?

Back in November, we spent a week in Cancun at Barcelo Maya Riviera which is the newest Adults Only property at the complex, and the food was really good at the a la carte restaurants. I do worry that my husband will be disappointed, but this trip we re only there to spend a week diving. I will just need to remind him of that if the food is not what he is expecting. Lol.

the first rule of secrets is that you don't talk about secrets.

You won’t need a car but you might want one for a day trip around the island and/or if you want to go into town.
