My guess is late '50s.

@David Wilson can probably pin it down within a year or two by the masks and fins.

Yeah, but those fins and masks were also available when I was a kid -- and I'm not that old . . .
 
So $170 in 1962 would be about $1,465 dollars today.

Even more on eBay, in "mint" condition, heh, heh, heh . . .

I've seen period regulators go for thirty -- fifty times their original prices . . .

Hey, Tampax saves the day -- even for a cascading nosebleed, from a reverse block. Sadly, I know that one from bitter, past experience.
