After several cancellations and postponements we are going today and could not be more excited. We are ready to adapt and just happy to finally be headed back. Looking forward to getting under water again. We will definitely try to update with any significant changes or procedures.

i am not sure if this info is anything new for you, or how it may affect your trip if at all, but just fyi....i was just speaking with a fella i know who lives on the mainland in playa del carmen and was told that the region was downgraded to orange status.

The mainland is orange, the Cozumel mayor has been keeping Cozumel at yellow.

As @horn34 noted , northern Q Roo (which theoretically includes Cozumel ) has been under orange for a few weeks. However, the mayor of Cozumel has kept restrictions unchanged from the yellow level since our metrics are better than the mainland

I just listened to the mayors Facebook live session from yesterday, and it sounds like nothing has changed in Cozumel (though my Spanish isn’t great ). He noted that Cozumel deaths are small fraction of what they were in August (down from 2 a day to more like one a week). As always take official numbers with a grain of salt but directionally that sounds about right.

Even on the mainland , the reported numbers don’t look that bad. Kind of surprised they are in orange based on official virus growth rate and hospital occupancy statistics (maybe true numbers or worse or maybe they are just worried about variants taking hold. ). @ChuckP might have a view. Yesterday’s Q Roo stats are below (showing Cozumel at 8 percent hospital occupancy )

I don't know about Meridianos, but two of the higher volume providers I've seen in Mexico used membrane systems. And those systems typically top out at around 40% oxygen content.

I thought Meridiano too was membrane but someone a few months said they weren't - I never went back down to ask/ Aldora is membrane, i didn't look real close at the guy next to them.

I have seen the liquid O2 tanks at Meridiano in the non scuba bay....

Medical oxygen cylinders have different specs than SCUBA tanks; they aren't interchangeable. The valves are different and the requirements for cleaning and inspection are more stringent.

You won't regret it. We went in December and had a blast. So glad we went! Felt safer on Coz than here.
