I have had so many of these kinds of issues involving windows 10 and older hardware that I just opted for a permanent fix. I bought a used Dell system on Amazon with Win7 64bit installed and use a KVM switch to move between my new PC and the Win7 machine. I honestly find that I use the Win7 machine a lot more than the Win10. At first I tried dual booting but there are just to many hardware issues.

Then remember to restart W10, after doing this I still couldn't connect to my Galileo Luna using the Galileoconfig software, so I found this post by Scubapro that did the trick. After doing this fix, I had to remove the USB IRDA from the port and plug it back in, I hope this helps:

Hi Deeman001, thanks for the link to the scubapro website. I followed the instructions, and still could not get the dongle to work, but after googling for drivers found a win 7 64 bit driver that win 10 was happy to use. I had tried loading drivers before making the scubapro suggested changes with no luck. Greatly appreciate your post

The irony of buying and maintaining a computer in order to maintain a computer! I have done similar things myself to keep access to old tech. Hope you get many dives out of it.

I just got a new laptop with Windows 10. Of course, my Polar irda reader wouldn't work. I followed these simple instructions and everything was fine as soon as I restarted the computer. It's similar to the ScubaPro fix above.
