Here's the type of thing I like to look at sometimes when I'm in the planning stages of a trip. It doesn't indicate how good the diving is but that there are sites in an area. One map shows sites in CR and the other more specific sites around Guanacaste.

I like the maps, these give me good ideas.

The one I shared definitely shows how to stay clear of the erupting volcanoes!! :rofl3:
But seriously, the non-erupting volcanoes are some of the neatest sites to visit.

Thanks again! Are rads to these volcanoes are good?

I am landing at Liberia, plan to stay there for a day or two, rent 4x4, and going to the coast from North to South for diving. I also want to see some nature. I like your map, I see few dive sites there. Do you have recommendation for Liberia, for the for a dive shop and associated with dive shop hotel in Guanacaste? Do you know if the coast from which I can reach Tortuga and Cabo Blanco are reachable by 4x4 car?

Thanks in advance!

Guys,

Thanks a lot for your advices, I read them all. After reading these and online, I realized that Guanacaste is realistically only one dive destination except Cocos island. So, likely the best will be to stay a week in that area, and few days in national parks.
Still how to choose between driving myself or rent a tour to these parks.

Aside of this, is 3-mm suit with a hood OK for diving there in March-April? Or thermocline is too sharp?

Thanks,

My computer showed 30C at the safety stop (highest I've ever seen) and 22C in the thermocline on the same dive. People in 5mm full suits were just as unhappy as I was in a 2/1 shorty.

Yeah, this is the range...so I guess full 3/2 and a 2 or 3 hood should work.
