There are two reasons for an experienced diver to take the Self-Reliant diver course:

There are at least three reasons - my wife forced me to get the card after she learned to dive. I had been diving solo for years and she started to get nervous...

I am sure there are more reasons - but it sure was not for me - it was for someone that loved me and it gave her peace of mind - which gave me the "Get Out Of Jail" card.

My wife saw me solo once. It was a quick bounce dive, at night, to hide something for a search and recovery class. She was quite stressed about that.

2 weeks ago she saw my Solo instructor card and said, "Please don't ever tell me when you're doing that." :)
