What are your dates? I found fares from Denver to Coz from $209 non stop Frontier in May, $392 United, Use matrix.itasoftware.com to search for fares

I used your link for Sat to Sat over labor day. Best price out of ATL was $2830/each. Southwest was a little over $500 on their cheapest fares with two checked bags.

Freaking airlines got a bailout, and then are gouging the sh!t out of us as soon as they can.

EDIT: Kayak gives a price of $1,879 by utilizing two different airlines for the same trip.

Gouging only applies to essential services and commodities, like food, water, gasoline, etc. Responding to supply vs demand by raising prices is unpleasant for the customer, but it isn't actually price gouging when you have the choice not to buy it.

I picked 9/4 to 9/11. 9/6 is Labor day. I always try to schedule vacations over holidays to minimize use of vacation days.
Ok, labor day is Sept 6. American does not have non-stop CZM to MIA on the 11th.

I call BS. Please don't tell me they aren't essential. They received a bailout, and kept flying routes to keep their slots and cargo. Is gasoline really more essential than airlines? Ride your goat to the grocery store.

You know what I mean. You have to eat but you don't have to fly to Cozumel. I don't mean that it's OK, only that I don't think that it is technically price gouging. Price gouging is illegal; If you think you are a victim of price gouging you can take it to your state Attorney General, but in the case of high fares for vacation flying I doubt that he or she would find it actionable.

Ok, it is possible, altho risky with these connections. I hope the ground agents would check you and bags thru from origin to destination both ways.

You're right, it doesn't qualify as price gouging under the law but I think the point is that if we as a society are going to hand over our tax money to a corporation we should require some strings in return.
