I love the XS scuba manifold
second favorite is the plain thermo 200 bar

To expand on this, the ones I hate are the old dive rite and the halycyon manifolds. They have squared edges and are very uncomfortable to carry with larger doubles. The Thermos are smooth and polished. The Dive gear express ones are also smooth, just not as refined as the Thermo.

I do not own or have personally seen a XS manifold, will have to take a gander.

I do have a thermos and the dive rite/ halcyons. I agree with the edges on the DR/ H’s , but they are solid. Also have an older OMS which isn’t bad.

I purchased DGX Long Neck 2 yrs ago, but have not dived it as of yet. Excited to see how it will change positioning etc. People say they carry nice and remove nicely do to the taller stature.

Anything other than a face seal

Loop a weight belt through one of your bands and over your shoulder and wear a glove

XS Scuba. Nice and smooth turning.

Watching this thread. Since this might get a little more visibility than the Sherwood thread, I'd love to hear more opinions and explanations for/against the face-sealing manifolds like the 6300 and others.

+1 more for XS-Scuba. Some of the reasons are discussed here: Scuba Cylinder Valve Installation

To me, the ideal manifold would be a solid one-piece forging design similar in construction to the old single-regulator models still used by the US Navy.

However, that would also require a simple addition to bands that incorporates a precision spacer since center-to-center adjustment would be lost.

These spacers ensure accurate minimum spacing and that cylinders are parallel. A more elegant injection molded version would reduce production cost.

Apeks. Smooth as butter.

Buying new valves? I use the DGX Nitrox Ready Valves manifold and modular L/R valves ... (normal version, not "long neck" or "standalone")

If the tank(s) come with something else .. if they are face seal manifold (as pictured above), or some really dumb design (offset or angled), or not DIN .... I replace them with other valves, or buy new DGX valves .... (you end up collecting lots of valves over the years of buying tanks, and changing them out)
