When do you think virus-related disruptions will end?

I've become quite a bit more interested in those that live after having been sick with Covid. What dies "recovered" mean? Missing a leg, yet still compromised? Dialysis for the rest of life? Heart trouble for remainder of life? Check it out. Death is bad but after making it through, life could still be very unpleasant. Ya, the new normal.

I'm surprised how many divers are so cavalier about a disease that affects the lungs. Recover and never dive again?

Yes I think too few people understand that there can be very serious long term consequences.

It is interesting how the virus has been politicized and is further polarizing our country. Personally, I feel (fear) that way too many people have become fatigued (and complacent) and the recent Memorial Day activities and failure to wear masks is going to bring about about a lot more pain and suffering than many expect.

There seems to be an overwhelming under-appreciation for the effectiveness of the previous quarantine which translates to a distrust of models, When I watch "freedom" activists engaging in large gatherings and demonstrations (wearing no masks) I am very apprehensive. It is interesting, we don't even have a name (yet) for these people. We always come up with some sort of derogatory name for people who strongly oppose our political leanings, yet I haven't heard a term yet for these people.

In short, I think we are in for a world of hurt, but we can't print money, pay people more money for not working than working and wait patiently for 18 months and a vaccine. The continued failure of the federal government to shoulder the responsibility for universal testing provides me the most clear cut example of our ineptitude. We are going for "a slow burn" whether the populace understands that or not.

As a friend related, it's like being in a zombie movie and people get complacent, even when they've tried to be careful (not the case here)... then boom, they're zombies.

I've seen the term "covidiots". It's not tied to politics, just attitude toward the virus.

The sad part is that we didn't need to wait 18 months and a vaccine... and taken this economic hit. Had we taken it seriously early, tested, traced, and quarantined, as in previous cases, this long malaise need not have happened.

If you're saying that people called it that and it led to discrimination to Asians, then maybe you understand my point.

I don't think that it'll be safe to travel before 80% of the world's population has either had the Corona virus, or have been immunized.
In other words: Not this year, and probably not next year.

If the immunization is developed and patented in the USA - NEVER, it'll be several orders of magnitude too expensive for everyone other than the top 5%, and because of this, several hundred million lesser people will die.

I was wrong though, I never expected our government to give away immunizations to American citizens, but they made up for it by banning the export to almost all other countrys.
Somehow I'm still not proud.

There are many countries/places open for tourism.

Thailand is gradually eased up its tough entry requirement starting tomorrow 01st Apr.
Next step would be, hopefully, the complete removal of the mandatory 14 days quarantine in the last quarter of 2021.
Anything could happen.

USA is NOT the only vaccine producing country fortunately there are alternatives.
However, the vaccine has been degenerated to political bickering especially in Europe!

No idea what has been happening in china.
Otherwise I can't think of any places in Asia, can you?

If you are talking about the whole world and based on number of fatalities ONLY.
Overwhelming majority has done a lot lot better than USA.
USA is miles ahead. Like it or not.
