Sounds like they might be considering making new restrictions on divers as part of the solution? Who could have imagined such a thing?
Abernathy couldn't imagine it, because he is too shortsighted to see beyond his own self interest (IMHO).

Might be an idea to charge divers for parking. Fisherman launching boats pay for parking..... no reason divers should get a free ride when using the park

One thing is almost certain is that once the government gets involved both sides will lose a certain amount of freedom and end up paying more for the privilege to dive/fish there. That's what governments do. Charge fees/taxes to enforce rules intended to curb freedoms for the perceived "common good". So be it. The cat can't be put back in the bag.

Fisherman fishing from shore do not pay for parking, although I would be willing to pay for parking if it gave us better/extended access as divers.

Might be an idea to charge everyone for parking. Fisherman launching boats pay for parking..... no reason anyone should get a free ride when using the park
FIFY

I have often wondered why vehicles with trailers have to pay for parking and all the other vehicles don't have to pay for parking. Most of the beaches in Palm Beach and Broward Counties like Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale by the Sea, Deerfield Beach, Boca Raton, Delray, Hollywood, or Dania all charge parking for beach access, oh and good luck trying to park on Miami Beach without paying exorbitant fees to a parking garage. McArthur State Park on Singer Island charges $5 for access. Exceptions are the Riveria Municipal Beach on Singer Island, and if memory serves parking is free at Boynton Beach Inlet. Given the overcrowded conditions, there should a minimum of $5 per car for non Palm Beach County Residents of Florida, and $20 for anybody from out of state, the only individuals parking for free should be Palm Beach County Residents(IMHO).

My guess is to pay for maintenance of the dock. Close to my family's beach house, the ramp we used was free until a dock was put in. What I dislike about the dock the most isn't the fee, but the fact that you can't launch/bring in two boats at a time now, so there's a backup in summer. Add to the fact that most people don't know how to handle their boats, it is even slower. And yes, I do get out to help people, but for selfish reasons. I'll admit it.

Maybe because they take up more space.
