Interesting. My brother-in-law in Tucson says he can take his ID NOW test on Fri, fly to ATL, overnight, fly to BON Saturday, arrive, and do it within his 24h window. May be worth him double-checking that!
Sounds like a Delta route...we're AA up here. I did the red eye once from flag but it was a super PITA.

I'm clear on the PCR 72 hours prior to arrival on Bonaire but still not clear on the 24 Hour requirement for the Antigen Test. When they say 24 hours prior to departure are they referring to 24 hours prior to departure from home airport or, in this case, 24 hours prior to departing for Bonaire from Atlanta? We are laying over for about 13 hours in Atlanta before departing Atlanta for Bonaire. Thanks in advance.

The answer seems lost in translation:

“Travelers must undergo an antigen test within 24 hours before departure to Bonaire. At their place of departure or at their stopover.” Q&A travelers - Crisiswebsite van het Openbaar Lichaam Bonaire

With 13 hours to while away, it *should* be easy to get a rapid antigen test at the airport (although that too seems confusing). But assuming the 10:00 EDT Delta departure from ATL, the antigen test would only need to be after 9:00 CDT the morning before.

Will a positive antigen test be confirmed by a PCR test? If visitors are acting prudently before being tested, they will be in a low prevalence group. If they are in a low prevalence group, the positive predictive value of the antigen test will be substantially lower than 100%, to the point where maybe up to 1/4 off positive tests will be false positives.

Article is from Aug 2020. Interesting that the US death count was 182,000 at the time.

Yeah, the point was that PCR test is more prone to producing false positives than antigen "rapid" test, so using it to confirm the result of the latter would be a questionable move. (Which would be about par for the course so far.)

It is obvious Bonaire doesn’t want us to visit. I guess they make enough from government give a ways. That’s fine, other places want our business.
