Intend on coupling a C370 with either a Mk11 or Mk17. Can get either at pretty much the same price.
Short of the Mk17 weighing around 300g more, is there any reason to select the Mk11 over it?
Water temperature here never falls below 10C (50F)
Though I'd like to have a G260 over the C370, I've stretched my budget to the limit!
Cheers!

Since you are on a budget go with the Mk11/C370. The Mk17 will not offer better performance nor will you be able to feel a difference in the breathing between the two. The advantage of the Mk17 is it is environmentally sealed that comes in handy when it comes to diving cold water (below 44F) or really dirty water.

The C series are one of the most underrated second stages. I dive with the G260 and have a couple of the early versions of C370 (the C350) and have serviced both and can say the C series is a very good reg, especially for the price.

MK17 is environmentally sealed, which is beneficial not only cold/silty waters but also very easy to rinse/clean after dive hence there is no salt water in it. It is subjective but you can use it very long time without need of service. You can seal MK11 as well but this is another story. If same/similar cost, i would suggest MK17 definitely. I have used MK2, MK17 and MK25, MK17 is still my favorite among them.

M17 is better and is my choice especially when it is at around the same price, even if slightly higher price. If you can skip few meals and save for the G260, that will be an awesome combination with the MK17 that will most likely last you a lifetime (many, many decades to come I hope :) ).

Mk17/g260 is a really good reg.
The environment seal makes it easy to rinse.
It's very small compared to other first stages and has a good positioning of the ports.

If it's the same money, or just slightly more, go with the mk17.
But make sure it's the evo version!

Mk11 is the same as the mk17 just without environmental sealing? Since it’s a diaphragm reg, even the mk11 won’t freeze in cold water right?

No, you need the environmental seal for cold water still.

You have the answer already!
Mk17/C370. Period

I have the Mk11/ C370 and I’m very happy with it ( I don’t ever intend on diving in waters requiring > 5mm.

It isn't just cold/dirty that the Mk-17 shines in. Salt is tough on regs, and the sealed feature of the MK-17 gives you a little safety net where you may not get a great opportunity for clean rinse water or a thorough rinse. As said, being sealed gives it a pretty good lifespan between services as nothing gets to the internals.

YMMV
