Cozumel Airport Shuttle Cost 2021

I recommend just buying shuttle tickets at Airport - only $16 cash for four adults to Hotel Casa Mexicana (i read somewhere it would be $80.) Anyway, pleasantly surprised.

We waited and bought our tickets, or airport transfers to hotel, at the Cozumel airport and it is the easiest thing in the world. I was reading online and their is a bunch of bad info. I was stressed out and bummed because it was Sunday and Diego's was closed for short walk and off site taxi ..

It cost us $16 for family of four to Casa Mexicana or Zone Central. We took a shared van of 9 people. We got dropped off first. I did tip him $4 as he loaded our bags on and asked him to drop us off first. Probably saved us 5-7 minutes! We had to wait less then ten minutes in van at airport.

As you come out of immigration you go right, the last booth on left before exit door is where you buy shuttle tickets. There is a big sign on wall with prices....very easy and cheap and for only $4 a person. I would never walk ten minutes in the hot sun to try to save $10. YMMV.

The Cozumel Airport is Very Small.
Probably only 25 yards from exit immigration to exit door to shuttle. Here are pictures! Good Luck!

A $4 payoff is pretty cheap. My visiting friends will need a 5.

You're right, too easy, not worth the hike to the street. Hotel packages that include those provide the same shuttles from and taxis to the airport usually at twice the cost.

The vans are generally packed, but that usually doesn't last long. I do get out at every stop before mine to watch bags being unloaded.

It is worth a hike across the street for us.
We did learn something during the hike this trip:

We were followed out and down the sidewalk by an airport authority of some sort, who told us that we were not to take a taxi from the airport. I did not engage in a conversation with him, but continued to walk. On the other side of the street, a taxi representative was waiting for people walking, (out of uniform), and told us to continue walking past the taco stand, where it would be permissible to get in a taxi.

Paraphrasing here, and I asked why everyone was on such high alert. He told me that drivers who were caught picking up passengers on airport grounds were subject to a non-negotiable 30 day suspension of all driving.

We waited for less than a minute for a taxi to pull up. Cost to take us to our Airbnb at approx 2nd and 15th was 100 pesos.

"Dos al centro por favor"... Have said it 25+ times as we grab our tickets for transport to the Casa Mexicana. Makes me start to feel old.

We had a similar experience 3 weeks ago. The people across the street told us there were cameras in the area and taxis could not pick people up from the round-about area -- the people across the street had to actually call for the taxi. We had a great late lunch at Diego's and caught a taxi from there.

While the rude people in the shuttles passed by without waving. Well, they got to their hotels before you, but you were on vacation time.

For those who don't want the hike or check gear and luggage for dive trips, you save 1/5 of a mile by packing into the vans. No, I don't like the sardine effect, but with my bad knee and 140# of bags, I appreciate the vans.

Certainly the shuttle or the hike is dependent on how much luggage you're dealing with.
We might have 25 lbs in each of our 2 carry-ons. (Our op stores all of our gear between trips).

FWIW, the airport federal zone extends across Fernandez (airport road) to the south. The car rental places across the street are in this zone and you can add a federal tax for renting there.

Yes, that's why they were insistent that we walk, (about 20 yards), past the taco stand.
