I started diving in 1987. I then went into it full blast getting my AOW in 1990 and ice diving in 1991. I then met my husband in 1993 who didn't dive so I have been snorkeling for the last 17 years.
In September 2009 we did a week at Sandals in Cuba where the diving was free. My husband tried the pool lesson and then did 3 open water dives to about 9m. He loved it enough that we went back in September 2010 where he got his OW. Then we did a week in Roatan in Feb 2011 where he got his AOW and we were both Nitrox certified.
After 10 years of planning to retire in Hong Kong we decided to retire in Cozumel and arrived January 25, 2014.
We started diving once a week and I got bent in Sept 2016 and had one session in the chamber. Then hubby got bent bad in September 2017 and did 4 sessions in the chamber. Both times it wasn't anything that we did wrong. Just long dives. Dr Dario (DAN) here in Cozumel said baby boomers should not dive more than 60 minutes as the risk more than doubles. Hubby sore never to dive again and I couldn't because of 3 surgeries on my knee over 14 months. Well never say never as we are both back in the water as of May 2019.Interact
