Jan 2019--just returned from a trip to Komodo and the Philippines--trying to decide where to go next--Bahamas or back to Cozumel?

      Hi bshort4!
To answer your question, we're on the Seadoors liveaboard for Tubbataha in May.
To ask one, "Do resorts typically require a DM for shore dives?"
      Thanks, David

I've never done any shore dives in the Phils--but most other places I've been do not require a DM with you if you are diving with a buddy.

    Certification Agencies:
    PADI
    Dive History:
Certified in Utah, about 50 freshwater dives there--the oceans there dried up a couple of years before I was born. Stopped diving for many years--retired and decided to recertify and start diving again. Six trips to the Philippines--Dauin (3 trips), Bohol (2 trips), Puerto Galera (two trips) Sipaly, Anda. One budget liveaboard in Komodo and many trips to Cozumel.
    Certification History:
Certified OW with PADI in 1973--what's a BCD? Left diving for 40 years--recertified OW with PADI 2014---AOW in 2017.
    Certification Level:
    AOW
    # of Logged Dives:
    200 - 499
    Dive Classification:
    Vacation Diver
    Years Certified:
    Ten Or More Years
    Dive Equipment:
Scuba Pro Lite Hawk BC, Deep6 reg, Hog Octo, SeaVision Prescription mask, Henderson 3 mm shortie wetsuit, Henderson 3mm full suit, Henderson 5mm shortie with sleeves,--just upgraded to Deep6 regulator, Mares X fins. SeaLife Micro 2.0 camera with Dragon 2500 video light and single tray, killed my Olympic TG-3 on a dive to 90 feet in Honduras without a housing--think I was looking at a excuse to buy a new camera--I'd buy the TG-5 if I did it over again.
First certified in 1973 in Utah--did about 50 freshwater dives then life got in the way and didn't dive again for 40 years. So much had changed in diving since 1973 that I just went ahead and re-certified as I was planning a trip to the Philippines to look at retiring there ( I didn't). Since 2014 I've made six trips to the Philippines for diving--I do like it there and usually spend at least a month with friends and diving. I've made four trips to Cozumel, one to Roatan, and I combined my last trip to the Philippines with a liveaboard trip in Komodo since I was in the area. Would like to dive Raja but the liveaboard prices are bit beyond my reach now that I'm retired--but a return trip to Komodo at a different time of the year (November the last trip) may be in the cards as well as a liveaboard at Tubbataha Reef in the Philippines--I'll need to save my pennies for that! I usually travel alone--which I don't much care for--but making new friends around the world is always nice.
