I learned to dive in 1981 while I was in the Navy during a port visit to Guam. A lack of funds due to family obligations and a public service career resulted in a 20+ hiatus from diving. Prior to my 2010 deployment to Afghanistan my wife and I took a vacation to Key West and I announced I was going diving. A refresher course at Lost Reef Adventures later and my newest obsession is breathing underwater either in Midwestern lakes and quarries or the Caribbean.
