Appalachia is the land of rolling green mountains, moonshine and ancient rivers. Traffic jam? What's that??

My wife Jackey and I became certified open-water divers in May 2004 at Small Hope Bay Lodge in the Bahamas. We were married underwater in the Turks & Caicos.

Locally we dive in the mountain reservoirs and rivers here in Appalachia. We get to see a lot of rocks, tree stumps, catfish and pretty brown mud. That is, when the visibility allows us to see anything at all.

There's very little support for diving here. So we pump our own gas, blend our own Nitrox and maintain our own cylinders and gear.
