So you're a 49ers fan? :) I need to make friends with people in your area so I can head out that way, watch a football game and get in a good couple of dives. Lol!

Graduated with a BS majoring in Marine Bio at UC Santa Cruz, June 2011.
I came to UCSC with a plan to take the Kelp Forest Ecology class to satisfy a Senior Thesis requirement for graduation. This required getting scuba certified. I later found out I needed 4 certs instead of 1 to even qualify for Kelp Forest.
What started out as a prerequisite for a class, turned into a passion.

A year after getting Basic OW, I found myself rated as a NAUI Divemaster and AAUS Scientific Diver for UCSC. After graduating, I stayed with the UCSC diving program for another 2 years as a volunteer, obtaining my NAUI instructor rating in my final year with them.

Through it all I have assisted in several different dive programs, mentoring students and assisting instructors. I also worked aboard one of the Monterey Dive boats as a rescue swimmer.

I have had the pleasure of working at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Seymour Marine Discovery Center, and Aquarium of the Bay Husbandry Program. I have also been a part of Landry's Rainforest Cafe's Habitat division, caring for their exhibits.

Four years after getting certified and two years after deciding on my career, I am now an Assistant Dive Safety Officer at a wonderful aquarium.

Through it all I never did take Kelp Forest Ecology; I did so much more.
