Well it all started with my father and grand-father getting certified in the late 70's early 80's. Then around age 6, dad would let me carry an aluminum 80 under my arm with a first stage and a single second stage, and I would spend hours at a time in my neighbors pool just swimming around and sitting on the bottom. Dad finally let me get certified around age 12 or 13. He always said I knew how to dive but I was never mature enough to officially learn. I started in the industry, as a Dive Shop Rat for a local shop in North Carolina, near my current shop. I would fill tanks and do the grunt work for the shop, including minor patches on swimming pools and even loading and unloading the shop truck for the instructors. Started teaching as a Dive Master around age 16,officially at age 18, and quickly went into Instructor. After spending some time in Law Enforcement, Medical Service (EMS), and the Fire Service, I combined all 4 and started teaching Public Safety Teams all over. In 2010, my wife adivised me that she was pregnant and I advised her I was quitting my job as a Police Officer and was going to go into business with my dad, and opened up Lake Hickory Scuba Center. We started out in a small 500 square foot, block room, located at the end of a marina on our local lake. Four years later, God blessed us with the opportunity to buy the whole marina. Now Lake Hickory Scuba Center has grown from 500 squared feet to 3000 square feet, and has changed names to Lake Hickory Scuba Center and Marina. The rest is history yet to be written.
