Hi Ron, I've been reading some of your comments on bp/w setups. Would you recommend a 18lb or 30lb wing and a aluminium or soft backplate for diving the following locations; Indonesia, Maldives, Socorro + Galapagos?

Given those choices, I would get the Apeks wing, aluminum plate, one piece harness. On a typical dive, how much do you inflate your BCD ?

Should I get the Apeks or IST aluminium plate? I don't think the slots line up with the IST so would likely need an STA. Meaning the savings wouldn't be as much.

Hardly at all unless at the surface but then never fully

I would get the Apeks aluminum plate, 18 wing and 1 piece harness. If you ever go to galapagos or dive 7mm suit, you can get the 30 lb wing and use the same plate and harness.

I just setup our next trip to, Little Caymen in November. My wife had the Go Pro and now wants to do video instead of photo. I will still do photo. What do you use for your videos? I think I might change soon myself to video instead, seemed much easier to do video and then get stills with the GoPro since now you can record at 30+ FPS at 1080 or 4K. as long as you have good lighting.

Just saw your short video on Little Cayman. I have dove Belize a few times and just got back from Cozumel. I am looking for the best that the Caribbean has in Reef system and Marine Life. I have dove in Southern Japan years ago still trying to duplicate it in the Caribbean. Any suggestions? Great quality in your videos and stills.

My favorite Caribbean diving is Cozumel and Belize liveaboard. Been diving all over the Caribbean and the diving is more alike than different.

Caribbean diving pales to what I dove at Maldives and Indonesia. Only reason it is popular for US is the close travel distance.

We just got back from our annual trip to Cozumel. Now were looking at somewhere different. Its been a few years since I asked and wondering if you have been to any places new that you liked and why you liked them?
