Just read your info on various dive sites in Venice. 2 novice divers want to find sharks teeth on Sunday, where do you recommend we park and dive? Do we need a cart to haul gear? Thanks!

      Mike,
I have met a couple of folks in Tampa Bay area who are keen on starting a kayak dive club on this coast, modeled after the huge one on east coast called KAYUBA. They meet 3rd Monday of every month, and 3 of us are going to attend their meeting this March, and meet with the "doers" of the club for dinner, prior to the meeting, to ask about "what has worked, what hasn't and what would you do different if you were starting over". Since you are a Grand Fu-Bob of kayaking on this coast, as much as anyone I figure, I would like to invite you to join us. Because it is a late meeting, we will overnight in Ft. Lauderdale and return Tues. Probably go over Mon. Am, maybe dive, maybe not, depending on seas, do meeting, and return. We may just imitate success and call the club KAYUBA West or some such. Interested? Will Wright in Sarasota, 321-5001.

You and I seem to have things in common: born in the same decade, both lived in Houston area, both have degrees in biology, both are spearos, my dive shop is Florida U/W Sports, both own yaks. I have two sons, 12 and 15, certified at age 10, but oldest is now under the spell of fumes (perfume and gasoline), and not likely to hang with dad for a few more years. I have taken my boys to the Keys a lot, becasue dad likes clear, shallow, warm water with little current - easy to keep track of em. But since they are just not that into diving, and I always have been, then I guess I need to find a dive bud or two. I have 3 yaks and 3 custom guns, and a yak hose that will support to divers from one bottle in the yak, and a sweet yak trailer with storage locker to keep all the toys in one, organized place. started diving in 1965. If you ever need a dive bud, I would like to hear from you. will wright, 321-5001

No,it's the Benwood in Key Largo. There isn't enough of the sugar barge to recognize as a wreck.
