Me either. 10 no show diver pairs at Lobos on Saturday. AMAZING CONDITIONS! 35'+ vis in the cove, with almost no surge and super easy entry / exit.

I drive down every Sat since I started diving last Sept and have only been disappointed a couple of times.

Chuck Tribolet:
I hope nobody stayed home based on Karl's (triton94949, formerly known as
northcoast_diver (sp?), DeepTechScuba(sp?), and Karl In California) analysis of the
conditions. Reports from Montrey on Saturday sounded decent:

Here's what's wrong with Karl's analysis:

1. A five foot swell is actually pretty nice conditions in Monterey.

2. A swell from the west and south means that the normal dive areas at the south
end of Monterey and Carmel Bays are protected.

3. Vis has little or nothing to do with the surface conditions until the swell gets bigger
than you'd like to dive in and the surge stirs up the bottom. Vis has much more to do
with what green stuff is growing in the water.

Me: I was in Madison, Wisconsin at a wedding. Guess I missed some nice diving. Oh
well. ;-(

2 dives on teh escapade yesterday, butterfly house and Dahli's wall. Excellent conditions, 30+viz on teh first dive, around 20 on teh second, 2 beautiful dives, very very flat. I wonder if Karl's post scared some people away from Lobos, i hope not.

I was out on saturday, it was greasy flat, and sunday was even smoother. We got a good day out on the water, but we were in a boat.

Saturday was EPIC!! I did two dives at Lovers 3..conditions were stellar,30-40ft of vis and lots of life! The highlight being -a large wolf eel out and about and a beautiful spiked ray in the sand flats!
Not too many people..? Plenty of parking and no traffic!

I dove the Monterey Express on saturday morning. Mono Lobo Wall and Stillwater Cove. No surge, no swell, no current, great vis, even the water temp was higher than last weeks. Was really a great day for diving ! :)

I dont take credit for nor apologize for the NOAA forecasts.

An if-fy weekend might be good and it might not be good.

Not worth it to me to drive 3 hours to Monterey or 2 hours to Sonoma to find out.

Glad you had a good Saturday of diving. :)

we're not blaming you, just saying you read this one wrong!!:D
