Most boats don't have an issue with you diving solo, even at night on multi-day trips. The only time they may say no is if it is a very deep site or the conditions are poor. Also..............most of the waivers that you sign before diving mention that you are required to adhire to safe diving practices and stay within the recreational limits. The waivers also remind people about diving with a buddy. This is just a CYA to protect the boat.
