Just wanted to say hello. My wife and I live in Tampa and have been doing a lot of spring diving lately. We are looking for advice on good sites both fresh and salt. We have been to King's Bay, Devils Den (twice), Blue Grotto, and Ginnie Springs. I am curious about Paradise Springs. I have heard it is an advanced dive to get to the cool areas. Anyone familiar with Paradise Springs? Also, is the Gulf any good yet?

Welcome to fantasy isla.. or was it jurassic par... anyway,...
My wife and I bought our state park pass, so I hit manatee springs in Chiefland a lot. It has some cool features if you get there when it's not silted out. After about 5 dives, most people are ready for something else. If all goes well for our May megadive party, you'll have to join us for a river drift dive. Lots of wildlife, and wild life!

We will be going through Chiefland on our way to Ginnie Springs Feb 18. Thanks for the tip, we will have to give Managee springs a try.

Welcome to the board.

Paradise can be done as an openwater diver but keep in mind this is an offset sink. It is a cool dive from the surface all the way to the bottom. I do not remember the max depth, I dove this site one time. I do remember if you stay off the bottom it is a great dive. If you swim on the bottom it is not so nice of a dive.

Diving in the gulf can be great or not so great as the viz wil change fast. Most sites are a long boat ride. I know that Brandon with Downunder scuba runs trips into the gulf http://www.diveweekiwacheesprings.com/ If you are wanting to do a little east coast diving then I run alot down to Boynton Beach and Pompano Beach. You can find all the details at www.cndivers.com.

Have fun and dive dive dive!!!
