Midnight Star:
Ok, we've gone to the drawing board on this one. This is the newly improved "ray proof" dive skin. How does it look? Excited? We here at "Dimwitted Scuba Designs" thinks so too :D

Tssk Tssk Tssk, I must say I am ashamed that you would include the Dimwitted Scuba Designs namebrand on that shoddy piece of equipment. Here is where its at! Presenting the The Heavy Duty "ray proof" weight integrated dive skin". As you can see it also comes with a heavy duty Ray Shield, the shield gives a +4 vs stingrays. :D

Excellent addition there! But the engineers felt the +4 shield, though incredibly durable and prized for signalling use during a "lost buddy" hiccup, might be mistaken for a sting ray itself, and cause the unwary diver to be bludgeoned unconsciouns while they try to subdue it.

Ironically, those world events may have been lifesaving in this case. This gentleman knew better than to pull the barb from his body. And so did his doctors. So at least the first tragedy helped save a second life.
