After many trips to the Caymans, but never having stayed or dove on the east side of Grand Cayman, we're considering Ocean Frontiers and The Reef or Compass Point. Can anyone give advice on restaurants on that side of the island? We have many favorites on GC, but they're all on the SMB or West side. We wouldn't mind splurging a couple of times for really good food/atmosphere but we're also game for trying something good that's not as "fancy".

Depending on when you're going, I'll be happy to let you know as soon as I return (6/2). We're staying & diving with the same folks you mentioned.

One of my favorites on that end is an Italian restaurant called Portofinos. The food is excellent, and I think it is slightly less expensive than most the nice restaurants on the island. Less expensive being relative since they all are pricey imo.

I've seen other (old) posts saying Portofino's was good. Where is it?

If we opt for GC -- the other option is Cozumel -- we'll be there July 1 - 8.

Portofinos is good and so is the Lighthouse.A little further on the "north" side is the kaibo yacht club? which is a good lunch place.

I really like the Lighthouse and Kaibo Yacht Club for dinner though that's a bit of a drive. I seem to be the only person who doesn't like Portofino's, only went once 'cause we had a lousy meal there. We had pretty good food at Morritt's. We weren't too crazy about Castro's at the Reef. This is all a few years ago.
