Have a stress fracture on my foot - metatarsal. This is the second one I have had in 5 years. Last time round I didn't dive. This time round, I'm going to Tobago in 7 weeks. I think it should have healed mainly by then (last time it took about 6-8 weeks) but I was wondering about any precautions I should take re finning etc. Anyone been there and done that? Thanks

One would think that diving would be OK after release to complete activity by your physician.

Repetitive loading of the metatarsal area of the foot while finning would be the greatest consideration.

Depth/pressure/diving per se probably should not place the fracture site at risk - although there are those who consider any derangement in blood supply an increased risk for bubbles.

Consider the muscle atrophy that occurs during immobilization.

Your dive trip would be cutting it pretty close.
