I was diving in the Casino Dive Park a couple of weeks ago and spotted a small boat. It was just North of the old swim platform about 20 yards sitting all by itself. Any ideas of the name, it’s not on any maps I could find.

Surely this group knows the name.:D

Mmmmmhh ... soshe is sitting outside the park then?

Do you remember the depth?
Do you have any image?

I guess I need to add her to our eDive site.

I've seen a blue boat just outside of the park near the swim platform. Is that the one you are talking about?

I'm not sure what it's called, but pretty regularly run into it between 70 and 80 feet coming back from the Valiant. I'd also be curious to know its name.

Christian, that's the one I'm talking about. Maybe a medium sized sailboat with the stern broken off.

If all goes as planned I'm going back to the park next Sunday and will shoot some more tape of it.

I think I saw that boat go down about two years ago. We were at the park, and the tip of the bow was sticking out of the water. I asked a few people about it, but no one seemed concerned. I've been meaning to dive over that way, just haven't got around to it.

Yes, there is indeed a relatively new sailboat out just past the swim platform. If I remember correctly, it was one of the derelict boats that were evicted from Avalon Harbor due to non-payment of mooring fees or lack of operational engines. We had a number of them that sank or came ashore over the past few years up and down the leeward coast. I believe many of them were "owned" by a local derelict here in Avalon (and, no... I'm not referring to me!).

Hi Dr. Bill,
back on the small island?

How long has the sailboat been there? Did she sank before lat summer? If so, I could probably see her in the sonar scan we did ... In fact, I see "something" in ~-73fsw and ~25m NNE from the platform.

Does she have a name?

Best Regards,

I_AM

It's been there for well over a year ... maybe closer to two.

25m NNE from the platform in ~73fsw sounds about right.
