Maybe we should have one thread for people that do own spare air, one thread for people who don't own spare air, one thread for those who used to own spare air, and one thread for people who are considering owning spare air.
Or maybe not.
Instead, we should just accept the fact that a multilateral dialog can't be controlled unilaterally, and that anyone that has something to say on the subject is free post. That's the way the interweb works - you get to ask the question, but you don't get to control who or how it's answered. At least that's how it should work, if the mods aren't on auto-pilot
I know it is difficult to meet my request to have a chat with people who own the device. Perhaps it is unreasonable for me to be allowed to discuss with actual owners of the device my questions.
I am a fan of gear testing. I can tell you how many seconds it takes for each of my smoke alarms to go off. I didn't trust what the package said. I decided that for me, I wanted an alarm in every room and wanted alarms in my home with both types of sensors.
Anyway back to SA I am wondering for the people who own SA if they have tested it out and for their various sac rates how it worked for them? And if they haven't I am hoping they will test it out.
If someone asks a question on the board of a certain group of divers, they should be allowed to get an answer from that group without that groups antigroup drowning out the answer. If you ask a question the the photogs, you should be able to get an answer without the group of people who think taking pictures is too distracting, if you ask a question about how split fins work or what owners think, or solo questions from solo divers, or dir from dir without the koolaid haters shouting it down.
It just strikes me as odd that those who don't own the device and think it is bad idea are afraid to let those who do own it give an answer. There were many such posts deleted yesterday.
The answers from owers vary, some think it is good. Others have said now that I have tried it, I have decided to set it aside for a better option.
Why am I asking the question? I am asking because I want to know the experience device owns have had with it. I like to know how things work. Some things work better than promised and others not as well.
I do wonder about people who are carrying it, but have not tested it. That of all things bewilders me. I test every piece of gear on every dive on the surface and once we get a few feet below and ask that my buddy does the same.
Is there some problem with me wanting to ask owners these questions?
If you have a problem with me asking the owners, can you share why you feel the need to prevent me from having a thread that is a discussion with owners and users or former users?
I have posted in bold letters responses to those who have posted who are not owners as soon as I started the thread it was over run with such people. When you have a thread full of such hostile posts it keeps away the very people I wanted to talk with.
If I asked a question about taking pictures under water and the thread was over run with people saying that I was going to die because I was distracted and that my buddy was going to die, I probaby would never get the answers. Or if I asked a DIR or Solo question, it would be nice to get an answer without either of those groups haters from over running the thread. It seems there is some great need to protect people on the board from talking to groups that others don't like.
