has anyone used sea elite ebs system before? i found a really good deal online and i need a new bc so i thought i might try it out just for ow. at the moment.

I the complete system last summer when I started diving. By the end of Fall I had replaced the wing with a smaller 30.

I found the shoulder supports to be somewhat uncomfortable, even in a 2 piece 7mm so I stripped those and most all of the other supports (including the backplate padding) off it. I also got rid of the integrated weights and went to a DUI weight harness.

All in all, it worked. For the price I got on it at the time it was a good deal (to me). Unfortunately I sort of "outgrew" it, and ended up wanting something simpler, with less "padding".

It was a lot more comfortable stripped down. The main problem was the shoulder pads had really hard/sharpish edges.

I haven't used anything else so far, but I probably am going to replace the harness in the near future. So the only "stock" piece I'm still using is really just the backplate. :|

I think you can use that wing with doubles, but I haven't tried it.

So rather than go through all this just to end up with a BP/W, why not just start there and save all the trouble? Especially, since the wing isn't even a modern design (donut).
