Hello
Ive just purchased a Underwater Kinetics D8 as a primary for night diving , my secondary is a UK SL4.

So the D8 comes standard with two 14w bulbs, what i want to know is can i use the 30w bulb from the D8R if i use NiCad d cell rechargables ?,or am i gonna start melting things ?

Thanks

Cam

If I recall correctly, the UK D4 and D8 lights use the same reflector assembly in both their alkaline and rechargable versions. UK's conversion kit only includes: a NiCad battery pack, recharger, and a higher wattage lamp.

Personally, I don't think there would be a problem. But, you can contact UK directly to make sure.

No, and I'm not sure why they don't have the 30 bulb standard in the D8, perhaps it's to make the $$$ D8R more attractive, perhaps it's because if you're paying for disposable batteries you'd want them to last twice as long. I also just found out that the D8 upgrade kit makes the D8 identical to a D8R. I just got my own personal D8, but I haven't had a chance to dive it yet though.
