OK, before I move out to Brunei next year, I'm putting together a bunch of spares that will be easier to get here.

I'm about to buy regs/computer, but would like to have spare O-rings. Probably going to get nitrox safe viton o-rings (future compatible), but don't know what sizes i need, as I don't own the equipment to measure it myself.

Could someone give me some measurements of the commonly used sizes. Plus, where do you normally buy your o-rings from? Can you buy this sort of thing from Home Depot or similar, or do you have to get them from a specialist.

Many thanks,

J.

As I'm going to be buying Apeks regs soon, should I get epdm o-rings instead of viton?

Boogie, thanks for such a kind offer. If I'm getting viton I'll be in touch.

If I'm only diving air or regular nitrox (not certain if it will be available locally) is any of this really necessary, or should I just get buna o rings? What about if you interchange the use of air and nitrox?

I'm not going to be servicing my own regs yet (that will come later) I'm basically after the correct items for my save a dive kit. I've only ever rented gear in the past, but now that I'm buying my own, I want to make sure I have the necessary (and correct) spares to cope with problems on a dive boat etc.

Very interesting reading in the other threads by the way.

Cheers,

J.

Unless you're replacing *internal* o-rings, which is unlikely if you're talking about hose ends and SPG spools, it doesn't matter. Viton are readily available. If you were looking for o-rings for rebuilding first stages, then you would want to look into EPDM (I think that's what Apeks recommend).

Perfect, thanks very much. I guess I'll get viton for all the uses I'm currently thinking of. When I learn to service my regs I'll get the specific one's I need for that.

Probably ought to get some regular buna rings for the rental tank valves. No point putting viton's on the rentals.

Cheers,

J.
