Well, didn't get to dive but I was ok with that. The basin in front of the ballroom was basically a parking lot. Too many divers. Did it the old fashioned way - with a snorkel. It was cold as crap too...

Born and raised in Tampa. We don't do cold.

Agreed. I was born in St. Pete.
I have a few friends that talk about how immune they are to the cold. I tell them they arent Floridians yet. It takes about 2-3 years and then they start getting more and more thermal protection!
I am spoiled, I never have had a dive less than 53* and thats the way I like it!

The water at Ginnie isn't bad - 72-74. But when you get out it's cold as ice. The highs were in the 60's with a light wind so...yeah. Not comfortable.

I know what you mean. I'll be there this Friday and the am lows are supposed to be in the 30's.

I guess I would be the exception as I work outdoors and wear shorts 365 days of the year plus I've lived in Florida since 1978.

Yup, that's what the weather was like while we were there. We went thru a truckload (literally) of firewood the two nights we were there. Good luck!

No need for luck when you have a drysuit!!!!!!! they are a beautiful thing. You stay nice and toasty warm when you get out of the water.

I have camped and dived there a few times. One morning while asleep in our tents, we had some theives come through in the wee hours. Many reported items missing when daybreak came.
