I am looking to add a strobe to my dx 2g. While the ys-110a is more powerful, and can use a hotshoe, I could get 2 ys-01 for a little more than a single ys-110a. While I like the 2G, if I upgrade to a dslr, is it desirable to only use a fiber optic cable? Or does the hotshoe add value for possilbe upgrades in the future?

Some people prefer using an electrical sync cord connection with a dSLR for maximum battery life and the fastest possible shooting speed. But many people are happy using fiber optics. If you think you many want to do serious wide-angle with a dSLR one day, you'll want to eventually own 2 YS-110a strobes imho, because of their increased power.

Thanks for the input, I do plan to get 2 strobes eventually... and more power is always better. It is only money afterall :)

your welcome. Let me know if you'd like to order a YS-110a strobe, you will be very happy with it!
