This is a brilliant discussion as it shows how important the predive brief is just so you get the communication sorted. I was told off on a dive because my way of asking for a quick air check is to show them my gauge and tap it. Your then supposed to show me yours, no one else understood what I was asking for. In my defence it was my first liveaboard and I was trained to dive in the far south of Saudi Arabia.

I would have understood that. In fact that is how I do it.
