Would a red filter do well on a DC1200?

Is there a macro lens made like the wide angle lens for the DC1200?

You shouldn't need a red filter for the DC1200, that's what the specialised white balanced settinngs are for.

I haven't seen a macro lens, would be a nice idea though.

That's what I had read. A macro lens would be sweet!.

A few more flexible links in the strobe arm would be nice too.

Hi man I just bought a Sealife DC1200 and we have bought the Sealife Macro lens "SL951 SeaLife 3X Macro Lens" got mine from Ebay wife used her one the first time we tried the camera and got really good close up results, and yes you don't need a red filter the DC1200 seems to take care of that issue especially if you are using a strobe with it. the Macro lens just clips on like the wide angle lens. varible nudi.JPGblenny.JPGgoatfish.jpgoctopus.jpg some photo's from first time we used thes cameras.

Hello All!
No red filter needed as all in the programming on the camera, which by the way works for the videos as well.
As for the Macro Lens, the camera will go down to 4" by itself. As Shayne has said above, you could stack the SL951 onto the camera or even the 8x or 16x lenses from the "old days" to shoot but be aware, you will get crazy close and the depth of field will be small, so a little movement after you focus could cause an out of focus situation!

I have found that using the Macro on the Focus button works just as well as any exterior Macro lens. Be sure to keep the camera perfectly still.

So, those pics were taken with both the SL951 macro lens and the strobes? I've been looking at getting one, but, from what I've read in its description, it seems that the SL951 also acts as a red filter. Doesn't that end up effecting the color balance when using strobes?

Great shots, and thanks in advance.

those pics weren't but my wife used her one that day and it didn't seem to effect the colour at all, in fact she got better colour close of the Octopus, all my shots were shot using a single strobe, just have to remember to set the camera for the flash setting for the desired shooting mode ie. macro flash for macro, normal for anything under 600mm and longer distance the infinity flash setting.

Hey Shayne,

Thanks for the info, I have been looking at trying to improve the macro performance of the DC1200, so I think I will buy the SL951 and give it a try.

Has anyone else tried the SL951? Results?
