New river snorkeling video

Riversnorkel, I guess you have to know the area or atleast be one who do, I think the water temperature is quite similar to the temperature we have in the scottish rivers here in the highlands, do you use a 5mm suit or is that too thin?

Blue sparkle, Skulking is a lot like boating, your ferry angles are still important!

I did notice you ferrying across in one shot Watching your videos made me realize how much I miss the rivers; I'll have to see about trying some skulking.

The huge snowpack in Washington state has swolen the local rivers to record levels.
Our search for clear water took us far up into the mountains to the little Wenatchee river. This river has extremely dangerous sections of class V whitewater but the 5 mile strech we swam on the 4th of July provided a high speed run through stands of old growth forests.
We encountered a huge log jam that spanned the entire river, providing a very interesting portage. As usual we encountered wildlife. A large buck mule deer stared couriously as we floated past and a family of merganzers may have thought we were just logs. Several fish species were spotted, but the breakneck current meant we had to focus more on survival than filming.

The message below was posted earlier in this thread.

I wear fins sometimes but my swim buddy does not. Fins are nice for extended swims, but can get in the way when getting in and out of the water often.
Skulking,our term for swimming/climbing/crawling upstream against the current can be easier without fins. It comes down to personal choice.

I know that to many this whole river snorkeling thing is a little strange but I'm having a great time exploring these crazy rivers and creeks in my area. I travel to the tropics and it's a great time, but the other 50 weeks a year are without tropical water and palm trees so snorkeling the local rivers has become my primary focus of my life.Here is a short video of our recent trip to the headwaters of the Icicle creek. A landslide in 2008 diverted the river into the forest service road, destroying a half a mile of road. The new access to this strech of river is a walking trail. This area is quite beautiful and was a great day exploring our local waters.

Really looks like fun...I'd like to try that in one of the rivers in NC like the chatooga....wonder if the vis is good enough?

What camera were you using--the quality seems way to high for this to be a goPro or contour1080...which is wat tyou would expect to be used in this "high impact envoronment"
