Discovery Channel had a special on Orca's a week or so ago including footage of a 6 hour battle between a pod of Orcas and Mom/Baby Gray...off of Monterey...I wonder if this is the same event?

I doubt that it was the same one, they don't tend to turn those things around that quickly. I've seen one on TV before and it's horrible because they kill the baby by drowning it. And then they only ate the tongue and lower jaw before they were full.
So sad.
