It's pretty easy. You learn the foundation of tables and some other things. All good stuff to know. Once you learn all that, do all the manual planning and such, toss the tables in a drawer and do like most everyone else. Use Vplanner of similar to plan your dives. 
I'm teaching one this week. I like it as it is more comprehensive and is damn near the same as the SEI course.
