Being a Southern Boy, I am curious.....how much does a bug license cost for a year??

$40 ... After the cost of the license, cost of equipment, gas, and time and effort, you're better off buying them in the store. But for fun, nothing beats pulling out a big lobbie from a hole. And the ones you catch always taste better.

Depends upon the town you are in. Most around me require a shellfish permit.

This has some licensing info for different towns

Thanks! I will call the town to make sure, although some are not that helpful.

Thanks dog. I was just in Maine for a 10 day road trip. Ate myself silly with lobster. Noticed a LOT of the side of the road lobster shacks were gone. Sorry to see that. Also noticed you could generally buy them alive at $7 a pound. Not too bad.

mmmm... lobster! Well I'm glad you enjoyed the meal part of your trip. Depending on the demand, sometimes during the summer, a glut of lobster from Canada will make its way down and push down prices (at least here in MA). Too bad there's no diving for lobster in ME.
